This past weekend we attended a wedding in Kansas City and had to fly. And for those of us who fly for a living, it is always the goal to upgrade, if possible, to first class! But in today’s busy world, that has become more and more difficult. BUT, I have learned, it is always important to ask. Both my wife and I were traveling back from Kansas City on frequent flyer tickets that normally aren’t upgradeable. But as I walked past the counter, I noticed on the large screen, that there were many open seats available in first class and there was only one person on the upgrade list! So, I decided “what the heck”, I am just going to ASK and see if we can upgrade! So I approached the counter and there was a nice guy at the check in. I asked him if it would be possible to upgrade my tickets as my wife and I are frequent flyers and I noticed that there were many open seats! He asked to see my current ticket and within a minute, he said SURE! Not only did he upgrade my wife and I to first class, he upgraded my mother in-law who was also traveling with us! And she isn’t a frequent traveler at all. The moral of the story is ALWAYS ASK FOR WHAT YOU WANT in life! Perhaps you may not get it, but perhaps you will. In sales, we were always trained to ASK for the order and to never walk away from a sale until we ASKED the customer to say YES!
REMEMBER, It never hurts to ask even when it doesn’t seem possible!
